We would like to share with you the results of our visitation that took place on October 3, 4, and 5th for our school's re-accreditation:
The team of three educators from Jacksonville, Miami, and Venice Dioceses were here for three days. The purpose of this visit was to review our School Improvement Plan, interview parents, students, teachers and administration and recommend re-accreditation from the Florida Catholic Conference. They visited the classrooms, looked at how are day begins, what goes on during the day and how we finish our day. They were very thorough in their report to the Florida Catholic Conference. They offered many commendations as well as a few recommendations. We would like to share some with you.

Commendations:

  • A high percentage of surveyed groups report that the school has a strong focus on faith formation and catholic values
  • Students make a commitment to creating quality work and striving for excellence;
  • The committee achieved consensus in setting their goals in the light of their findings (in surveys and research);
  • The goals of the Action Plan the faculty has set for themselves are focused on instructional methods that improve student learning;
Recommendations:
  • It is recommended that HFCS revisit the current resources of technology and textbooks as to the effective use in the current learning environment; (we are already in the process of looking at the use of digital devices to supplement the curriculum; teacher already have iPads to begin to develop a plan)
  • The school is encouraged to refine the timeline and assessment methods to identify progress in achieving goals;
  • Technology plan should be updated to reflect the learning environment's current and forecasted needs.

Nothing came as a surprise to the faculty because for the last 18 months, we studied all areas of our school facilities and curriculum and the team came in to reconfirm what we already saw as a plan for the future. We look forward on beginning to work to make Holy Family Catholic School even stronger spiritually and academically. There is no place like Holy Family!!
